South Africa) Pretoria Sheraton hotel room, price, location, marriott bonvoy review

The Sheraton hotel in Pretoria is the only Sheraton hotel in South Africa, The hotel is pretty old with little renovations if any through out its life giving it its vintage look, it looks old both in and out but it also looks well managed which in the end gives it a sort of classy feel, it just feels good.

 

1.Room

Now lets go into detail starting with the rooms, unfortunately all of the vintage classy looks extend to the rooms as well meaning everything in the rooms starting from the furniture all the way to the facilities looks and feels like the same stuff that was put there when the hotel was opening which kind of leads to other problems of their own for example the plumbing often excretes an unpleasant odour in the bathroom and I had issues with the flushing of the toilet and the sink had some pretty visible stains which made it just look dirty and uncleaned, but everything else was actually alright in the bathroom, so now moving into the room itself, the view was just beautiful no matter the time of day you look out the window because I had the room facing the union building so the whole image was just picturesque but other than the fluffiness of the bed and pillows and the beautiful art thats hung all around the hotel, everything else was just not up to par for the price as you can see in the images below, everything was just too old, the couch, chair,table everything even the T.V which was even inside a doored cabinet was super tiny and not smart so no netflix or youtube there.

 

2.Lounge

There are 2 lounges, the business lounge and the club lounge, I will introduce the club lounge only because the business lounge just looks like an extension of the lobby with a few drinks. So the club lounge access is actually limited to guests who are actually on the 6th and 7th floor only and I'm guessing members only so its not crowded, the view from the L shape couch is also stunning because it faces the union buildings as well. The food they serve is also pretty good but unfortunately the variety is lacking as they only serve 3 kinds of snacks buffet style but its very little so if there are about 5 of you then its already finished and you have to wait for them to prepare more, and the drink selection is also extremely limited so thats a bummer but the people who work there are all really quite welcoming so the atmosphere is quite good.

 

3.Facilities

The hotel has a pool located on the ground floor which is okay in length but just 1.2m deep so its okay if you plan on doing some laps. There is also a gym just not really stocked up but atleast there's enough to hit the whole body assuming there are only like 3 or 4 people so the waiting wont be long. The gym, sauna and salon are all next to each other so whether you want to get a massage, hair cut then workout then you're set although the massages are quite pricey.

 

4.Location

Now the location is quite a tricky subject here, its amazing because you're right in front of the union building and park so all you have to do is just cross the road and you're already in the park on your way to the building itself but other than that there's not much else so unless you have a car or plan on taking an uber or something then its perfect otherwise it sucks.

 

The place is perfect for a short stay but if you plan on staying in one hotel for a month then I wouldn't really recommend it but on the plus side the food is amazing whether its the breakfast served in the restaurant or room service then you definitely get your moneys' worth.
